Mas de Libian, Vin de Pétanque - A Great Wine for Summer Sipping!
(Regularly $15.99 but save $3 off per bottle now through June 30, only $12.99!)
A wine “To drink whilst playing petanques (boules), or any other times!!!” This statement from the Mas De Libian website perfectly explains the nature of this wine. Pétanque is another word for the game of boules, similar to bocce in Italian, and this red is an able partner for outdoor sipping and casual social situations.
Mas de Libian is in the Ardeche, on the west side of the Rhône river. The estate has been in the Thibon family since 1670 and they converted to biodynamic methods in 2005, where they now harvest by hand and the wines are racked by gravity, eschewing filtration.
Vin de Pétanque is roughly 75% Grenache with 25% Syrah and produced in cement vats. It's not highly extracted, sees about 5 days with the juice on the skins and you can think of it as a light styled Côtes-du-Rhône. The wine is ripe and uncomplicated with a lovely fresh berry character and drinks exceedingly well with a slight chill. The well regarded wine critic Jancis Robinson calls it a “quintessential summer wine” and says it will provide “oodles of pleasure.” I agree, and who doesn't like “oodles of pleasure”?
We invite you to take advantage of this offer and enjoy a great discovery!
